There’s nothing better than a warm place on a cold night. Everything about Pepperland Cafe is warm, from the yellow ochre exterior to the deep red walls and the friendly owner and staff inside. Tonight it was squash and fennel (a very under appreciated vegetable) soup with a lovely touch of spiciness. Then a green salad with goat cheese, artichoke hearts and tomatoes and very crabby crabcakes. We left with a warm glow.

… we are loving the feel of our downtown — we first dined at the Pepperland during a power outage last year. the meal was healthy and scrumptious and the carrot cake (okay, so the carrot part is the only healthy part of this portion of the meal!) is the best I’ve ever tasted. The ambiance and presentation and range of menu from comfort foods to fine cuisine make this “our restaurant.”
And now, the market … ! We are, indeed, what we eat, and this place stocks all our favorite guilt-free foods and takes requests. And how about that great and friendly staff … and a chance to run into neighbors and find everybody smiling … With a world full of complaints, it’s so nice to hang around a place where everyone is soooooo appreciative. I love your phrase B.M. (before market). We are definitely on a roll. Ahhhhh, community! We’re awfully glad to be a part of it and to be raising a grandson here …
