I was wondering what happen at the board meeting last night, did you get some answers or just the run around??

I’m curious, too. I had to leave about 45 minutes into the meeting, so I heard part, but not all.

I was really waiting to see how the minutes would reflect the meeting. I have to say that the minutes, didn’t disappoint me. That’s because I wasn’t expecting them to report the facts. They just didn’t report anything! I am going to call the School Board Chairperson to have her e-mail me the superintendents answers. (So I wouldn’t quote him incorrectly.) That’s why he wouldn’t e-mail me prior to the meeting. I should have just recorded the meeting. Next time I will…with their permission, of course!

Do you need permission to take minutes at the School Board meetings?
Even a recording device should not be disallowed, how about the guy that records the town meetings, some local radio station. Does the Board record the meetings? the Town Council does. What is legal and what is illegal?
Anyone know?

George,
I am not sure on the legality of recording public meetings. I know that some towns have their town meetings recorded for a more accurate account. I think they might have to announce that the meeting is being recorded prior to the start. Maybe we can get a lawyer to offer a free answer to our question.
