Announcement: Public Information Meeting - CMP

Central Maine Power Company will host a public informational meeting from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 24 at the South Berwick Town Hall, 180 Main Street, South Berwick in the third floor auditorium.

CMP proposes to rebuild an existing transmission line between the company’s Quaker Hill substation on Burnham Road in North Berwick and the Three Rivers substation on Houde Road in Eliot. The line will be built within an existing utility corridor that passes through portions of North Berwick, South Berwick, and Eliot.

The public is invited to view plans of the route and the proposed project design.

 is intending to file a Natural Resources Protection Act permit application with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection pursuant to the provisions of 38 M.R.S.A. §§  480-A thru 480-BB on or about:

 

April 11, 2008

 The application is for rebuilding the existing CMP Section 197 transmission line at the following location:

 

The existing Section 197 right-of-way extends from the Quaker Hill Substation in North Berwick, Maine to the Three Rivers Substation in Eliot, Maine.

A public informational meeting will be held from 6:00–8:00 PM on Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at the South Berwick Town Hall, located at 180 Maine Street, South Berwick.  The meeting will be held in the auditorium on the 3rd floor (ADA accessible).

A request for a public hearing or a request that the Board of Environmental Protection assume jurisdiction over this application must be received by the Department in writing, no later than 20 days after the application is found by the Department to be complete and is accepted for processing.  A public hearing may or may not be held at the discretion of the Commissioner or Board of Environmental Protection.  Public comment on the application will be accepted throughout the processing of the application.

The application will be filed for public inspection at the Department of Environmental Protection’s office in Portland during normal working hours.  A copy of the application may also be seen at the municipal offices in North Berwick, South Berwick, and Eliot, Maine.

Written public comments may be sent to the regional office in Portland where the application is filed for public inspection:
