wow! was this photo taken by a profossional with a super camera? I ask because i am severely lacking in my camera skills. I bought what I thought was a great camera for taking nauture shots and I am consistently dissapointed with the end result!

Not a professional, but a camera buff. Not a super camera, but a pretty good camera–it’s a five year old Sony digital. The key is having a macro lens that allows me to get within inches of the object of the photo and still get a sharp focus. If you look at your camera directions you can find the shortest distance at which you can still focus. The trick is to find that sweet spot so you can get the sharpest image possible. If you have a fairly high resolution camera you can then crop the resulting image to get a close up.

I’m going to see his uncle Jiminy at the end of August!

Molly,
You should make cards of your great photos and sell them at the new Farmer’s Market in Rollinsford. I’d buy one! They’re amazing!

I agree. I’d buy them, too!

Also here is one for the Today I saw: An Eastern Milk Snake - I know there are not uncommon yet it was first time. It was coiled up on / in my riding lawn mower. They are beautiful snake and I have to say it did take me a bit by surprise.

JB–I’ve seen the Eastern Milk Snake a few times and their looks are stunning and a little frightening if you don’t know that they are harmless. Here’s a picture of one from Google images:

I’ve been all morning stalking juvenile garter snakes for a picture. They are not being very cooperative, so I will have to wait for a cool morning when they are only interested in warming up in the sun.
