LJ,

From Fosters on Saturday:

Among the job opportunities he (Grossman)has come across? Town manager of South Berwick.

While surfing the Internet, he saw a posting for the manager's job on the Maine Municipal Association website — and he said he plans on applying for the position.

The chances of the council actually offering him job are close to zero — the council is hoping to hire a new manager by the end of the year and the terms of the three councilors who asked for his resignation do not expire until after the November election — but in the event he is offered the job, he said he would take it.

That said, he added, "I don't think they want to hire me back."

Wow, local papers are on the internet? (^tongue-in-cheek). I know that, Anonymous. Just thought someone might have the info. I don't care a fig about who's hired. Just thought I'd try to squelch a rumor.

Does anyone know anything about a new town manager? At a meeting this evening, someone brought up a rumor they'd heard about the most recent town manager being rehired? I can't believe it is true, but stranger things have happened...

I know from attending several of the school board meetings that even though it may seem like they are over-staffed or have redundant positions, the justification is that 'the state allows it'. Makes it hard to suggest cuts or more cost-effective ways of doing business....

Although it is misleading, I believe that position is an Administrative Assistant to the Assist. Supt. She is also acts as the receptionist. They seem to be replacing the person who currently holds this position, not adding a new one.
