The 236 diner invited candidates for local posts to submit responses to the following questions:
-Tell us something about yourself?
-Why are you running for this position?
-What do you see as the biggest challenges and opportunities facing South Berwick?
-If you are elected (re-elected), what priorities will you have for your term in office?
-What strengths, skills, and qualifications would you bring to the office?
Many of the candidates have responded and today I will begin posting their responses and will be posting all that I receive over the next week. I am posting the responses in the order I received them. I have not yet had responses from some candidates to the request and others are still working on their answers. By the end of the series I hope to have heard from all of them.
Some of the candidates have said although they are happy to participate by submitting answers to my questions for publication, they won’t participate in online discussions, some because they would rather speak to people in person and some because they are very busy with the campaign and do not have the time. However others have said they may participate in online discussions. I will disable the comments on each of the candidate’s articles but will post an election discussion area for comments.
A request for commenters: Please be respectful and civil in comments. All of the candidates, regardless of whether we agree with their positions, deserve respect for putting themselves on the line and stepping forward to run for elected office. Also they are our neighbors, friends, family, people who live and work in our community.
