SB Town Council Candidate: Gerald W. MacPherson Sr.

Here is Mr. MacPherson’s response to the questions:

Born, July 1941. Educated in Lynn Mass public schools and served in the us Navy 1961-65

I have been a resident of South Berwick since 1966, married to Donna in 1965 and have two children {boys} Jerry Jr., and Wayne ages 40 and 42. Both born and educated in South Berwick, and both married, Jerry Jr. and Amy have two girls, Amanda (15) and Lauren (12) and live in Sanford, Wayne and Tammy have two girls, Shelby (14) and Cassie (11) and live in South Berwick.

I have been employed with Rockingham Electrical Supply Co., Inc. in Newington NH. For 49 years. My Present position is Corporate V.P. Director of Credit and Collections. (I will be retiring on Dec 31, 2008.)

I have served five terms on the Town Council, 1980-1986 and 1992-2002 elected Chairman for seven years.

If elected I will continue to work toward;

  • The improvement of the image and integrity of local government.
  • To control the cost of running local government by strict control and sensible spending practices in order to stabilize and maintain the quality of life for all South Berwick residents.
  • There are a number of important issues that will face the Town in the coming year that the Council will be addressing in the best interest of the community. The 2009/2010 budget that must balance revenues and expenditures to stabilize taxes. The Library project and the continued effort to develop and improve the business climate in South Berwick.

I consider it an honor to serve my community and I thank you for that opportunity, and hope you will elect me to serve again on the Town Council.
