MSAD 35 news

The MSAD 35 school district has a newly designed website. It seems easier to get around than the old one.  Check it out at www.msad35.net

The MSAD 35 Board of Directors has launched podcasts to help keep the community more informed about what is happening in the schools.  The first one covers the discussions regarding the potential for tuitioning in Rollinsford students to the middle and high school and some measures the school district is taking to save money.   (I wish the Town Council would consider podcasts like these.)

Here’s some good news about the school district from the Portsmouth Herald:

School district saves $140K on energy bills

During these tough economic times, there are some bright spots. SAD 35 is saving money and energy while improving the learning environment for students, thanks to the energy conservation measures

I attended the meeting with Rollinsford last night and I commend our board (SAD 35) for being open, honest and inquisitive. Good questions were asked, much info was provided. There were also many unanswerable questions posed, which were handled well. It would be a very long and involved process for Rollinsford and quite frankly I don’t know why they would want to involve themselves that deeply for percieved gains over what they already have…that is for them to decide. For us, as our superintendent acknowledged, it really is a financial proposal. And with our state setting the maximum tuition rate I don’t see where our district would make enough money to make it worth our while either. But our citizens can explore that if this does become a serious proposal from Rollinsford.
