All current and former members of the South Berwick Public Library’s Book Discussion Group are invited to a reunion to both reminisce and plan for the future on Wednesday, April 1, 2009, at 7 PM at the Library, as the 200th meeting approaches. Those who are interested in joining a book group are also welcome.
The group first met in August 1993 to discuss “The Bridges of Madison County” by Robert Waller. The most recent meeting featured “Born on a Blue Day” by Daniel Temmet. In the 186 times the group has met the members have been treated to a wide variety of fiction and non-fiction by best-selling, local and classical authors. Some of the more familiar titles the group has read include “Wuthering Heights,” Gladys Hasty Carroll’s “As the Earth Turns,” “Snow Falling on Cedars,” “The Memory Keepers Daughter,” and an anthology of contemporary Maine fiction.
There will not be an assigned book for this meeting. Lists of books read are available at the Library for members to review and share. Members are encouraged to bring recommendations for future reads. Refreshments will be served.
The book group meets the first Wednesday of each month at 7 PM at the Library. The meetings are open to the public. The Library is open on Monday and Wednesday from 1 PM to 8 PM, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 AM to 5 PM, Friday from 1 PM to 5 PM, and Saturday from 9 AM to 12:45 PM. You may call the Library at 207-384-3308 for more information.
