South Berwick Public Library Annual Book Sale

The Friends of the Library are holding their Annual Book Sale Saturday, May 9, from 9-1 (rain date May 16) and volunteers are needed to help out with this major fundraiser. Book donations have been coming in all winter so there are a lot of books to sort prior to the sale, and posters and signboards need to be put up around town.

Call for volunteers: There will be a Spring Cleaning party on Friday morning, May 8, the last chance to wash the porch walls before the summer book sale goes up. A couple of people could make short work of it. And windows need to be washed. Sarah Orne Jewett wrote about the 300 panes it was her job to wash in what is now the children’s library – now that is a job!

The day of the sale, 4-5 people are needed at 8am to set up tables, carry the books outside, and erect the pop-up tent for a special book selection;  2-3 people at a time to tend the tables during the sale; and 4 people for cleanup between 1-2 pm. Please call Patti Mitchem at 384-2195 to volunteer. And finally, come to the Book Sale to take advantage of a great selection of new and gently used books.
