A Sailor’s Life for Me!

Explore the early Maritime History of South Berwick at the Hamilton House. Did you know that Hamilton House was once the site of the town landing?  Or that sailing ships were built on the shores of the Salmon Falls River?  That ships anchored in front of Hamilton House with foreign cargos?  Join us for a fun family day filled with activities that explore local maritime heritage.  Sing a sea chantey and learn about the life of a sailor with maritime interpreter and performer, David Peloquin.  Make a sailor’s valentine.  Try your hand at scrimshaw and knot tying.  Have your photo taken as a sailor or as Colonial or Mrs. Hamilton.  Step inside Hamilton House, Colonial Hamilton’s grand mansion and tour the grounds.  Food and drink will be sold at the event.

    A little update on Saturday’s A Sailor’s Life for Me! event at Hamilton House. 45 Market Street Cafe and Bakery of Somersworth will be on site selling yummy food and drink. $1 off the admission of anyone dressed like a pirate or sailor!
