“We have received tremendous support over the last several months as our education foundation has been formed. Our goal at the kick-off dinner is to introduce the Marshwood Education Foundation to Eliot and South Berwick and begin to raise funds to support our initial grants in December 2009,” Jeff Leathe, MEF’s president said.

“Our grants committee has begun meeting with staff at each school to make them aware of MEF’s grant criteria and the wide range of funding opportunities available to them. By supporting innovative concepts and programs, we can extend the wonderful professional skills available in our schools,” Mr. Leathe said.

The Marshwood Education Foundation (MEF) is an independent, non-profit organization of dedicated community members. The foundation is committed to supporting public education in Eliot and South Berwick through funding innovative educational opportunities that fall outside the responsibility of the school budget. MEF will be organized as a tax exempt 501(c)(3)corporation. Educational foundations reflect the schools they serve.
