Catching up...FYI on 4/13 council public hearing Mr. Paul Steinhauer commented on atheltic field maintenance. The answer was correct but to clarify the town contracts out most of the mowing and in fact pay for one mowing per week of the athletic fields. In reality the baseball fields would not be playable if only mowed once per week. The Little League organization in town (SBRELL) does in fact pay for the second mowing each week. To add on, if anyone really paid attention to what goes on at our fields they would realize that the volunteer organization of SBRELL goes way above and beyond to maintain these fields at a significant savings to our town. We as an organization have always taken on this responsibility because we feel it is important for our children and our town. We are repeatedly complimented on having some of the finest ball fields around! During the month of July we run tournaments for several age groups and many surrounding town teams participate. This is one way we raise money to support ourselves (non-profit) and also publicize and encourage the attending families to visit our local businesses. I hope this enlightens anyone who might have questions or reservations about our organization and the amount money that is required or requested from the town. Please remember the kids need a place to play!
