Join Historic New England curator Nancy Carlisle for a fascinating look at the role of the kitchen in times past and present. Carlisle, co-author of America’s Kitchens, will illustrate her talk with historic drawings, photographs, and images of ephemera from Historic New England’s collections. The America’s Kitchens book is part of Historic New England’s Year of the Kitchen. Through special programs, house tours, exhibitions, and more, discover the technological and social changes that have taken place in the kitchen and why, for so many of us, this room still symbolizes warmth and comfort.
