1)  All commenters must be registered users with their verifiable first and last name as their publicly displayed screen name. If I don’t know you, I will verify whether you are a real person by looking up your name in my trusty South Berwick directory or by Googling your name. Read more about why this policy is in force.

To register:

I have turned of self registration because of the unending onslaught from spammers and bots who register.  So if you are a real person living in the area, email me at  molly@the236diner.com and I will register you.  You will then get an email with the password I have given you.  You can log on and change your password.  Then  you are good to go for commenting.

I moderate the comments, so they will not appear until I have seen then and approve them.

The criteria for approval is simple:

Have you used your real name? Yes, I know there is a big debate about anonymity on internet forums and how anonymity fosters free flowing dialog and having to use a name squelches it.  However, from my experience here, I think anonymity also encourages some people to act like jerks, thereby squelching participation by earnest, thoughtful people and this is my site so names are required.

Are you civil? State whatever your position is, but don’t call people names who don’t agree with you, don’t make up “facts” about other people, and don’t use profanity.
