Tuesday, June 2, 2009
7pm, Marshwood High School.

Citizens will have the opportunity to vote on each proposed article of the budget. At the conclusion of this meeting a final dollar amount will be established for voter validation.

The Superintendent’s Budget Letter describes the budget that will be presented at the Budget Meeting on June 2:

“The budget that the Board of Directors has approved for your consideration will decrease spending in the district by $66,754 (0.3%) over the current fiscal year. If approved, the local assessment will decrease by $262,373 (2%). In spite of having increases in some fixed costs, including contractual obligations to our employees, the Board of Directors was able to decrease the budget by making significant cuts in several areas including: operations and maintenance, supplies and equipment, professional development, and athletics. We were also able to lock in heating oil for next year at $1.85 per gallon compared to $3.00 per gallon this past year. This budget also includes a decrease of five positions district-wide.”
