Terms of Use

All commenters must be registered users with their first and last name as their publicly displayed screen name.  (You can register by going to this page or if you are already a registered user, you can sign in and then change your public name by going to the “My Profile” area.) If I don’t know you, I will verify whether you are a real person by looking up your name in my trusty South Berwick directory or by Googling your name.

Comments are moderated.  This means they have to be approved before they are published.  Requirements for publication are that a real name is used and the comments meet a basic threshold of civility:

• Be kind. I named this the 236 diner with the idea that participants will act as they would if they were at a real diner.   Attack ideas, not people. Even if you are mad about something, no need to say mean things about people.  This is a small community and we all have to live together.
• No name calling.  Do not state your opinions as though they are facts.  No using this to spread rumors about people. No threats of violence against others. No racism, sexism, homophobia, religious bigotry, etc…. Such comments will not be posted.
• I believe strongly in free speech, so say what you want but be aware that many different people may be here who would be offended by profanity. If you need to swear, how about using “$#%@” or some such? People will get the idea but you won’t have created an atmosphere where some feel unwelcome.
